Credit Diploma Program

The Credit Diploma Program offers participants the opportunity to earn a high school diploma for free through the Naugatuck Board of Education.

Students may earn credits through evening classes, independent- study courses and documented life experiences. Credits may also be transferred from previously attended high schools. A total of 23 credits is necessary for graduation (a minimum of two credits must be earned in the Naugatuck Adult Education Program apart from transferred credits) which includes:
  • English: 4 credits
  • Math: 4 credits
  • Social Studies: 3 credits (must include one U. S. History and one half civics credit)
  • Science: 3 credits
  • Vocational Arts: 1 credit
  • Electives: 8 credits
Anyone wishing to enroll should bring a copy of his/her previous high school transcript so counselors can review transfer credits. To enroll in a diploma program, students must be 17 years of age or older and formally withdrawn from day school. Students 17 years of age must present documentation which shows withdrawal with parental permission. Proof of age and residency is required.

All credit diploma classes are held in the evenings at Naugatuck High School.

Credit Diploma Program Registration

Location: Naugatuck High School Adult Education Office Rm N 144 (across from the cafeteria)

Registration takes place in the fall (late August and early September) and winter (November, January and February). Please check our calendar for dates.
